Dave has had a 40-year love affair…….. with the game of tennis. He created Lifestyle Tennis with two goals in mind— to share his 40-year passion for tennis and to provide a comfortable and positive learning experience for those new to tennis and want to improve, or those returning to tennis years later and want to know the modern game technique. No matter what your age or fitness level, he can find your comfort zone and polish it with quality tennis instruction, preparing you to enjoy the year around tennis southern California offers.
When it comes to physical fitness, Dave knows how difficult it can be to make a comeback. After a devastating near-death motorcycle accident in his mid fifty’s left him severely injured, he drew upon his lifelong love of tennis to help him start down a year-long road to recovery, going from wheelchair to walking unassisted. Fearing he would never play competitive tennis again, the experience inspired Dave to reevaluate life’s priorities and to begin a second career as a certified professional tennis instructor. By working in the tennis industry he hoped to at least stay connected to the game that had given him so much throughout his life. After receiving couple of titanium implants, he trained daily over the next year working on tennis strokes and conditioning while preparing for the Professional Tennis Registry instructor certification test – he moved from walk, to trot, to run. Dave went on to pass his tennis instructor’s certification test, and two years later he even managed to win a local USTA doubles tournament and has not looked back.
Dave uses a comprehensive approach that recognizes each student’s unique abilities, combining tennis modern instruction with fitness training, nutritional advice and loads motivation. His programs take place at various private and public tennis facilities across Los Angeles. Dave is also head event coordinator and instructor for three online tennis meet-up groups of over six hundred members. The meet-up groups have averaged over thirty tennis events annually for the last two years. Currently Dave divides his time between traveling with his wife, private/ group tennis instruction, and organizing a mix of social tennis events ranging from Lady’s Night doubles, College Alumni tennis, and Charity tennis events, all the way to Beach Tennis.
Dave is a Certified Tennis Instructor with the Professional Tennis Registry, as well as a member of United States Professional Tennis Association. In addition, he is currently completing work on a second tennis instructor certification. Dave’s also a tennis and golf adviser to both the Beverly Hills Country Club and the Calabasas Country Club, specializing in event management. To stay grounded, he gives his time to the Santa Monica Special Olympics tennis program and Vista Del Mar Child and Family Services as a volunteer instructor and finds great satisfaction sharing his lifelong love affair with tennis.
By encouraging people to become active in such a positive pursuit as tennis and being realistic about the challenges of change, Dave has helped many clients not only achieve their tennis goals but learn how tennis is a continued learning process that can be enjoyed over a lifetime. He can do the same for you!
